Dr. Ishmael Kwawununu is a higher education public safety and emergency management executive with experience in campus safety operations, strategic planning, crisis leadership, investigations, training, organizational resilience, and executive advising. He serves as Deputy Director of Public Safety at the Fashion Institute of Technology, State University of New York, after progressing from Public Safety Specialist to Lieutenant and then senior departmental leadership. His work includes leading and supporting complex incident reviews, emergency drills, demonstrations, major events, policy implementation, staffing optimization, technology initiatives, and cross-functional coordination. Dr. Kwawununu holds a doctorate in Civil Security Leadership and Policy Management, a Master of Public Administration in Disaster and Emergency Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Emergency and Disaster Management. His doctoral research examined rural-urban migration and flood vulnerability in Accra, Ghana.
